Reza Baluchi's love affair with the USCG has come to an end. In the footsteps (sort of) of Christopher Columbus, and with the honorable goal of raising "money for children in need and to inspire those that have lost hope for a better future...and stuff," (OK, I added the "and stuff" part).
personally, I would be more impressed if he ran in his bubble across America going down the center line of westbound I70 or be shot out of a giant canon to the moon, or rolled down to the bottom of the Grand Canyon, but who am I to stand in the way of someone's dream.
This idiot should be billed by the government for his rescue.
If this is his second time around at this stunt - no matter what the good cause he intends - yes. Him and all those who engage in "extreme sports" and have to then be saved from their adventures at great cost to the public.
As I read the article, he did not need to be, nor did he request to be rescued this most recent attempt to run to Bermuda. I believe the video is from the 2014 actual rescue. As I read it the 2016 Coast Guard just decided they were mad because he defied their order not to embark, so the Coast Guard threw a hissy fit and went out and picked him up. But I am sure the Coast Guard will record it as a rescue in their records to justify their existence.

No, but his plan was to catch fish (and eat them raw?) and eat protein bars.
