Thanks for posting this, Calvert. I thought we'd never find out what happened to this student since the school said it wouldn't reveal any disciplinary action since it was confidential.

Definitely he should be charged as an adult---he's 18. And I feel sorry for that teacher if he is allowed back into school because he really may do something even worse to the teacher.

As much as I hate cigarette/cigar smoke, I am a little surprised this counts as harassment, but kind of glad it does!

Well, A, B, and C

A: We are not in the 80's.

B: It is a zero tolerance world.

C: Considering how cigarettes and cigars are treated these days with smoke free campuses, ordinances against smoking in restaurants and at street side cafes and the like, it's really not to surprising that using one in an offensive manner against a recognized authority could get one arrested.....especially if the location is a smoke free one.

Back in the 80s I was constrained, like the teacher, by an employment contract. If someone assaults me with cigarette smoke today, I will defend myself, and it will not involve running away.

Another example of black on white violent crime not reported by the major media outlets.

Maybe they're too busy reporting gun fights to report smoke fights.

In that context, stupid means doing something against your own best interest. How is arresting him against the best interest of whoever decided to have him arrested?

And how is suspending him better? Doesn't it just give him a free vacation from school?
