Her call to order pizza for herself and co-workers lasted over 8 minutes while all incoming 911 calls went unanswered.

Never fear, she received a letter of reprimand.

ONE 911 operator? That's insane. What if she has to pee? What if she's on a long, complicated call?

Our daughter is a 911 dispatcher. Yes calls can go on for a long time. Co-coordinating a chase, instructing someone on how to do CPR, taking a call when an officer is killed bt the side of the road.

And, yes, they do have to eat. But lunch or dinner is scheduled.

There are good, and bad, dispatchers--like good and bad LEOs or just good and bad people.

I'm sure that she will be treated accordingly.

Sounds like a management problem, not an employee problem.

A different Source said there were Other Dispatchers also on Duty, (50+)

It sounds like she did not logout of her station when she was on her Pizza Ordering time period.

Also sound like a software issue, If the Call Director software had directed the call to her station and she did not pick it up within the "Allotted" time 10? seconds? The Call Director Software should have taken the call back from her station and re-queued it to a different station.
