Sheesh. When I saw the title "Grocery store in hot water" I thought it was about some government agency taking them to task, but instead it's just about some twit consumer with a stupid opinion about a store's choice to make something convenient for customers who might prefer it. Moronic.

Some people like some things to be convenient. I happen to like that fact that a store near me sells butternut squash all nice and peeled and cubed, it's worth an extra 50 cents not to have to do it myself. Some other people might like other things convenient too. What's the big deal?

Oh! The horror! Somebody made something a little more convenient for somebody!

I know, let's get rid of all the convenient stuff. We'll all go back to killing our own cows, no more cars, everybody will plant and grow their own crops...

If THIS is the type of thing that people get outraged and all up in arms over, then they should feel pretty blessed that they live good, healthy, uneventful lives.

This isn't such a bad idea. I always buy at least two avocados at a time in case I have to throw one out because it's brown and disgusting when I peel it. I wouldn't mind paying an additional .50 to buy one that I know is ripe and unblemished. I can't think of a reason not to peel my own eggs and oranges, though.

Yes! Butternut squash is actually difficult to peel. I buy it whole if I will only need to cut in half before baking, but for soups or casseroles that require diced chunks, pre-cut is the way to go.

"Pre-peeled" is redundant and bad usage. Wise up, people.

Would you prefer "peeled prior to purchase?"

Considering that I would never use more than half an avocado, and that I have no talent for choosing them by examining the outside, this product would be ideal.

Though a bit more pricey, that is just about the only way I buy pineapple.

Yet ANOTHER perfect example of 1st World problems.

Perfect for those that worship at The Church of the Perpetually Offended.

We-ll, it's like I said in
"Garbage day tommorrow! Nothing dirty, right?" .
Long story short, since most of my meals are derived from dry goods, my kitchen doesn't produce that much trash.

Now, would I raise a stink with the grocery store? Probably not unless two things happened, one of them being if this was the only way they were selling the product and secondly, if the cost went up. Which for this article, the produce is 3X what I pay for here in Texas.

HOWEVER, one thing to keep in mind. Have an avocado in its natural form and it can have decent shelf life. Cut it open and use only half of it, that life will be degraded considerably. I usually take the second half, baggie it, put it in the frig, and hopefully I will use it in a day or so.....but I don't always make the dead line. I can see a point to be irritated about IF in opening this container, one then has to take additional measures to protect the second half. That is, only one seal for both halves.

One final thing. Many often say, about this or that, why do we need this additional system, why do we need this level of perfection when in the old days we would.......So why do we need to see absolute freshness when in the old days, we just gently felt them?
