the largest chunk of it by far are the full scholarships for all her children, valued at $400K.
the power of social media...
How true..........now, just who are we talking about here?
If I had to guess, I would say it was that something of some kid with a Chewbacca mask on. Saw a less than a second image of that in passing the other week. Quite frankly, I'll remember Chewbacca Cat http://www.themarysue.com/wp-content...1/mewbacca.jpg
longer than that image.
Yeah, they won't (the scholarships are actually from a specific school). That gives plenty of time to do tax planning, but the scholarships also might be worth considerably more by then.
Ah, I didn't know about it being from a specific school.
I just found this:
Quote:
“If she wants to take advantage of it, we’ll make good on our promise, even if it’s 15 or 20 years from now,” Brian Carroll, executive vice president of Southeastern University, told ABC News.
So I guess she was really just given a promise of scholarships. Like you said, plenty of time to do tax planning. But the tax burden will be less than tuition, that's for sure!
What I liked most about the video is that it was just pure joy. No motivation. No message. No anything - just joy. And I'm glad this mom is reaping some benefits. She certainly wasn't asking for it! She posted the video just for her Facebook friends and it exploded from there.

Good for her!
Exactly. She wasn't looking for her 15 minutes of fame. She just happened to have it thrust on her.
Interesting that people are saying she "deserves" this money. Why? Because she's funny and made people laugh and seems to be a happy person? In that case, I know dozens of people who also "deserve" money.
Look, the video made me laugh, too, and I like her attitude but I don't think she "deserves" money for it. She's gotten it, so be it, it doesn't bother me, but I don't think she "deserves" it.

She deserves the money because, through her efforts, she was able convince others to give her the money. Anytime you convince someone to give you money, you deserve it (unless you committed fraud in the process -- which this lady hasn't given the details we have).
I don't get the scholarship donation part? While that's way in the future, I'd be a little irked if I was a large donor to this university. I mean giving away scholarships because of a viral video?
I usually avoid viral videos, but I finally watched it. I thought it got off to a really slow start, however I wasn't disappointed. Her laughter was infectious, I found it hysterical. Pure silliness and utter joy, best laugh I've had this year.
Damn, I need to get I a mask or different cats, all mine do is sit here meow for food..
