"We have had mobiles in Australia since 1987. Some 90 per cent of the population use them today and many of these have used them for a lot longer than 20 years. But we are seeing no rise in the incidence of brain cancer against the background rate."

There was no link to cancer from asbestos for decades. In fact cancer from asbestos exposure can take over 20 years to show up, sometimes longer.

Good news?

Sure until the bad news hits and then it will be "why didn't they tell us?"

I've wondered about the asbestos=cellphones comparison plausibility.

A link to an Australian Radiation Protection article [2007] [and a very long read]:
http://anothersample.net/order/4872d...68154e19a93013

Summary :
"The evidence for a causal relationship between (smoking and asbestos) and
cancer is overwhelming. The same cannot be said, however, for exposure to
ELF EMF and adverse health effects. Human studies have largely been
inconsistent apart from the childhood leukaemia findings which, although they raise some concern, have to be viewed with caution."
-Ken K. Karipidis

My impression is that during autopsy lung tumors are found practically swathed in asbestos....a real smoking gun and damned difficult to miss the causal connection.

Interestingly, the article states "the first cases of lung cancer among asbestos workers were reported in the 1930s and the link with mesothelioma was first noted in
the early 1940s."

I guess asbestos producer Johns Manville and the other deplorable bastards covered it up so thoroughly some politicians would be proud.
