Yeah.........on very rare occasions marijuana might cause psychotic episodes but not the face eating zombie cannibal kind. Most of these bizarre instances can be attributed to "research chemicals". The Chinese manufacture and sell these by the ton over the internet........and some are so potent they are practically undetectable by testing. Especially when the tests don't know what to look for. Take W-18 - 10,000 times more powerful than morphine. A dose the size of a few grains of sand is enough to kill a person.
Lord knows what kind of experimental drugs are being developed in clandestine oversea labs........and most of them are easily available online.

Where in the article that you linked to does it say that he is on a hospital ventilator- maybe the link goes to another article?
The mother is saying that he had been acting strangely for a week, claiming that he had super powers and was here to protect people. Under those circumstances, I don't think that someone laced his drink at the restaurant. It's more likely that he is mentally ill or took drugs.
