For the longest time I though Huntsman spiders were only found abroad in places like Australia and many parts of Asia/Southeast Asia.

I then shuddered to realize that Huntsman's were actually found in some U.S. states. Arizona and Florida for sure there have been sightings. And now, Michigan. How soon before it reaches every state....

A mom in Michigan got the scare of her life when she spotted one of the largest spiders in the world crawling in her son’s bedroom — an arachnid so big, it needed a “leash,” she said.

I don't know if I want to click on the link. I have pest control coming out to my house on Monday for spiders.

It's generally a good idea to kill any invasive species before they can become established.

They look a lot begger before being smashed by a book.
They are actually cool to watch since they run sideways, backward, forward and change directions extremely fast. But I guess to those who hate spiders, it might remind them of that old Tarantula Movie with Leo G Carrol from the '50s.

When it's in my house, the only good spider is a dead spider.

Well, personally, and as a guy who understands spiders well enough, this one is big enough to have gotten me thinking about a 22 rifle to handle. Inside my house...no. I'll tolerate a lot outside, but something like this inside my abode, I think not. Certain spiders I will tolerate inside, choosing to relocate them rather than kill them, but obviously poisonous ones like Black Widows or an unknown like this...terminate.

I'm not in the spider relocation program either. If it is in my house, it dies. Outside, I only kill poisonous spiders like black widows. I have a really pretty garden spider living in a flower bed right now.
