Serious question: What country do you live in? The reason he is not in jail is because he is a retired firefighter, and probably spent many years working alongside the police at various times in his career. The police usually consider these guys as one of their own.

In most, if not all states, pensions are protected. There are plenty of public employees in prison collecting their pension checks.

Had I been the arresting officer, retired firefighter or not, I would have placed him under arrest and on a 5150 - mandatory 72-hour psychiatric hold.

Same here...it's crazy that they just booked him and let him post bail. I wouldn't be surprised if they gave him his gun back.

The scariest part is that this nitwit was freed on bail without even appearing before a judge who should have probably sent him for a psychiatric examination and certainly made sure all his weapons were confiscated until he was tried.

They're AT&T trucks, so I'm okay with it. It's not like he shot at a company that didn't deserve whatever harm comes to it.

IMO this definitely shouldn't be.

Why? He's retired, it's not like he committed a crime while employed. Do you think you should lose your 401k, private pension, or social security if you commit a crime????

I think that a retired state worker earning a pension should lose all or some of that pension if they are convicted of a crime of this nature.
