im not defending him. im just trying to point out that you cant lock up a person just because he shot a van aND threatened people. locking up a person is for more serious crimes like murder, kidnapping etc. in this case, his crime is still bailable
Serious question: What country do you live in? The reason he is not in jail is because he is a retired firefighter, and probably spent many years working alongside the police at various times in his career. The police usually consider these guys as one of their own.
The scariest part is that this nitwit was freed on bail without even appearing before a judge who should have probably sent him for a psychiatric examination and certainly made sure all his weapons were confiscated until he was tried.
Why? He's retired, it's not like he committed a crime while employed. Do you think you should lose your 401k, private pension, or social security if you commit a crime????

I think that a retired state worker earning a pension should lose all or some of that pension if they are convicted of a crime of this nature.
