And it that was it mostly. No **** shaming on Instagram, Facebook, MySpace or Snapchat. No hate groups on Facebook or MySpace. No fake accounts to troll people until the days of AIM (though it is worse now with catfishing.)

Social media, though, makes it far easier and more consistent to harass someone. Getting off the computer won't solve the problem if someone is sharing around jokes jokes & gossip about the person online all day long. Whether the victim goes online or not, won't solve that problem. I find it incredible that victims are expected to delete their own social media profiles and not go online or communicate with other kids online. When everyone else (non-victim) can do the same.
As i stated aboce, this is exactly the problem today.

If someone posted photos of my teen daughter in the dressing room online as a "joke" I'd have them prosecuted under child porn statutes. I'd also encourage parents to get legal help to determine if what's being done to their children is covered under the definition of harassment, and sue the parents if they need to do so. Sometimes, simply paying a lawyer to write a cease-and-desist letter can scare someone enough to get their teen to stop the harassment. I'm not claiming it would work in every situation, but it's often worth trying.
I agree with you here.

Sounds like evidence to me. Hope they are making print outs/copies before they disappear.

Im not sure why bullying is such a big problem right now, bullies have always been around, I remember a handful of them from middle school, but no one ever committed suicide over it or had any major injuries. It was just something we had to deal with, it was like an unwritten rule among kids.
It's the degree of how far this particular incident went. This bully beat another child to a bloody pulp, and bad enough that he has to have reconstructive surgery to his face. There is bully, and then there is just plain psychotic rage and definitely needs to be reined in.

I haven't heard of a parent being arrested yet, but look it up, district attorney's are strongly suggesting parents to refrain from taking naked pictures of their children, and especially posting them on social media, due to the fact of possible legal ramifications.

Well posting them on social media is just plain stupid. Having it in your home or personal computer, now that is a stretch...

Narcissism, if that is the culprit, is an emotional scar. Now some people are so badly narcissistic you cant break through it. But many people you can teach empathy. We should include helping "bullies" learn empathy and heal as part of the anti-bullying campaign we have going on.
But that's the problem. Bullies are getting off scott-free. They are not getting any "help". It happens every day over and over. CHILDREN are killing themselves from being bullied. The bullies feel no remorse...have NO empathy and go on bullying. Parents are not teaching their children NOT to bully (some actually defend their children), schools are not disciplining bullies, and no one is helping the victims. This was a pretty horrific example of bullying. The kind of rage to break someone's skull (as well as the other damage to the victim) is pretty intense.

The self-esteem movement (adults) allowed many bullies to grow up. Most bullies were stopped in their younger years by young boys/girls who believed in right. They were stopped by the community and adults as well. The self-esteem movement does not allow "right" to step in. Where are the leaders? Business? Politics? Government?

I hope the judge who gets this case really throws his butt under the jail for a while and I hope his parents are also prosecuted for child neglect (not knowing or caring that your child is out commiting assaults ) . I think the laws need to catch up to the technology age and yes to whoever said child porn charges indeed . Yeah let these bullies go to prison with child porn charges my nephew is a prison guard and he says those guys get beat up everyday in prison . They wont be much of a bully when they come out .

One thing y'all forget is that bullies go after weaker people. You'll never hear of a bully trying someone who can knock their head off. Why? Because bullies know who to go after. I think self defense should be mandatory for public school children so if it ever comes to it, they know how to defend themselves. At the same time, parents need to stop being their child's friend and be their PARENT. If I ever heard my child(ren) bullying other students, well...(s)he wouldn't do that again after I'm done.

Amen and if some of these young women would stop having babies when they are babies and not knowing how to raise a productive member of society a lot of this would go away .
