The world's first successful total penis and scrotal transplant was completed at Johns Hopkins Hospital on March 26, according to a news release issued Monday.
The procedure lasted 14 hours and involved nine plastic surgeons, two urological surgeons and a team of anesthesiologists, nurses and surgical technicians, according to the release. The transplant recipient, who wished to remain anonymous, is a young US serviceman who sustained injuries to his lower pelvis, lower abdominal wall and lower extremities in an improvised explosive device blast while serving in Afghanistan.
Why is ******* a bad word?
It is not slang! How about vagina?
As a former biology major please tell me what I am missing, as this operation is wonderful and heartwarming.
Hope it gives the soldier a shot at a normal life.
I'm wishing for the best possible outcome for this veteran, and that he's able to lead a normal life. He paid a terrible price to serve his country, and us, and he deserves to have all his needs met at our expense for the rest of his life. Anything less in abdicating our responsibilities to our vets.
Good luck to him.
Nice to see the team of doctors is a mix of ethnic backgrounds/nationalities.
Personally, I don't care what nationality my doctor is as long as he's skilled.
