Paul Gonzales, dubbed the "Dine-and-Dash Dater," pleaded not guilty Monday to extortion, grand theft and other charges, the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office said in a statement.

Gonzales is accused forcing women he met on dating apps and websites to foot the bill for dinner and drinks after he would leave restaurants without paying, Deputy District Attorney Michael Fern said in the statement.

From May 2016 to April 2018, eight women allegedly had to cover the check for their dates with Gonzales, while in two other cases, the restaurants spotted them, prosecutors said.

Gonzales allegedly defrauded more than $950 overall in his scheme at restaurants in Pasadena, Long Beach, Burbank and Los Angeles.

I hope he gets convicted and serves every single day. How crazy is it to do something so outrageous on numerous occasions?

Well, the guy is clearly a dope, but 13 years seems pretty harsh and a waste of taxpayer money. I say you put him to work until he reimburses what he owes.

I agree. This is pretty much a petty crime. He needs to reimburse the ladies and the restaurants that covered the bill. Do community service, be banned from online dating for a year, and call it a day.

"Facing up to 13 years in prison" means he won't serve nearly that much even if convicted. But he needs to go away, even for a little while. Reimbursement and a stern talking to is not nearly enough for this punk.

I wonder how many of those women were expecting him to cover the entire bill when they sat down to eat.

What does that have to do with anything? The guy is clearly a cheap loser. Maybe he will like the price of his meals at the "Greybar Hotel".

Agreed. Prison is for dangerous offenders. This guy is just a butthole.

Huh? People rape babies and don't serve 13 years. Don't be ridiculous. It's a waste of taxpayers money.

These people need to get creative with their punishments.

Let’s make him wash dishes at a truck stop diner until he pays it off! He won’t do it again.

I used to work as a waitress in a truck stop when I was college aged.

13 years? That's an outrage to all taxpayers forced to provide him free lodging and all the other prison perks, as well as 14,235 free meals if he serves the full 13 years. (Feel free to check my math @ 3 meals a day).

Better that he should be sentenced to preparing and serving food in a women's shelter for six months.
