Yet the liquid can create a death sentence for its users. drunk driving, drunken fights, alcohol poisoning, etc. Why drink something that has a record of killing people or making people do things that they regret??
I drink alcohol. I've never driven drunk, gotten into drunken fights, gotten alcohol poisoning, etc. Never regretted doing anything while drinking. Drinking alcohol doesn't = getting drunk.

In another story from yesterday, his brother had watched the footage from the bar. The brother says the missing man was acting strangely. It makes me wonder if someone is drugging the drinks or something. The missing man had gone to look for someone to drive him home. In looking at the map, it didn't look like there would be a reason for him to walk down to the river.
I agree, but drinking alcohol isn't a capital offense requiring a death penalty (if that is what happened to this missing man). Blaming the victim may make us feel superior, but the only person it really helps is the criminal's attorney.

Yes, of course. But I was referring to a death sentence inflicted by someone else, not the self-inflicted one.
I don't get it. Police don't suspect foul play. Do young men just jump into a river and drown themselves in Austin if they've had one or two too many drinks?
A bar I used to go to was near a very fast paced inlet near the ocean. If you can believe 2 idiots jumped off into the fast moving water in one summer. Sharks are very common at the mouth of the inlet.....food washes out right toward them! Both men died, cops were there to see one of them just "go under"
I live in Austin. We have a fierce drinking culture here, fueled in large part by young men. The river is actually not that far from where he was. There is a huge park and trail going around the river and many bars/restaurants/hotels on it as well. Not surprised that people end up in it all the time. They get raging drunk and decide to take a walk by the river. It's dark. They stumble (or pass out) and fall in.
when "handsome young men" go stumbling off drunk in the opposite direction of lakes or rivers they usually end up in their own bed eventually. However if they head towards water, they will often end up in the water. Handsome young men should have a good idea where the water is before they get drunk.
