I remain unconvinced that this type of behavior is exclusively an American issue. Humans are humans no matter where they're from. I do suspect, however, that it's more popular to post this kind of incident when Americans are involved. Not much fun if they happen to be French, Swedish, Japanese, etc., etc.
Despite what seems to be a trend these days, Americans are no more prone to bad behavior than anyone else.

Over there when you see trash on the ground it's from Americans. No respect.
