My son doesn't have a doorbell. The other evening, someone knocked on his door. When he opened it, he saw young teens running down the street. They were amusing themselves with ding-dong ditch, but since he didn't have a bell, they knocked. He found that hilarious.

I've heard quite a few stories of people giving junkie neighbors money and this happening when they don't ... with worse results.
I know what a kinkajou is. When the article first popped up for me, the top photo was a kinkajou. When I just looked at the link again, it showed monkeys. The article stated it was a kinkajou.
Florida, given it's warm environment makes it relatively easy to keep\raise exotic species often without the need for fancy setups like one might need in say....Wisconsin.
As such, they have a lot of that stuff going on and the people keeping them are often morons living in apartments and not experienced keepers\hobbyists that know what they are doing.
Snakes are probably the biggest threat. There have been cases of a guy going in his garage only to find a King Cobra there escaped from somewhere close by. They had one apartment they took something like 30 venemous snakes out of after finding a cobra out on the lawn of the complex.

They are basically destroying the native species in the Everglades. They are eating the alligators.
Hunters are now making a fortune destroying these snakes and they are massive.
