Aside from what makeup would have complemented her complexion her contributions to mathematics and the space race are immeasurable. She and other human computers of all races were an immeasurable asset in us winning WWII and then as the movie showed the Space Race. Up till the movie Hidden Figures Admiral Grace Hopper was the only human computer that most people every heard of.
A life well lived and we are better off for her contributions....RIP
I find the limited posthumous news coverage of her accomplishments very disturbing. I don't believe it is because she was Black or Female. I actually think the dearth of news coverage is because her accomplishments were in mathematics, a science that many people abhor.
I'm not trying to be disagreeable, but in NONE of her pictures, does she look Black.
Is she more than 1/4 black, by genealogy?
I'm extremely impressed by her accomplishments (and liked the movie, too!) but I agree that many Americans of today would look at her photographs and wonder why she was so discriminated against. In the past, they really must have been on the lookout for anyone who wasn't 100% white Northern European.

I didn't see the movie either and am impressed with all she's done.
I also agree, even in her picture from when she was younger, she looks white. My mixed grandson isn't as light is she is
