Seventy bottles of liquor in four days? Is that humanly possible, wouldn't that just about kill the average person?

I don’t believe he drank 70 bottles of liquor.

I'm guessing they weren't all full. And he didn't have to consume the entire bottle for it to be a loss. Pretty much every bottle he took the pourer out of would be a loss, even if he took one swig.

There once was a thief named Ortiz
Who entered a restaurant with ease
For four days he stayed
Cuz he had it made
And everything seemed like a breeze.

You can tell that he had a good time. Look at that mugshot.

The key here is in the line "he consumed and stole". He was in and out of the restaurant, removing stuff. He absolutely did NOT "consume" all that he is responsible for stealing.

He "removed beverages and other items during his stay".

He didn't drink 70 bottles. He "consumed and stole" 70 bottles. He took stuff home and came back for more.

Missed that bit. Makes sense, but he certainly looked as though he was busy consuming at least a good portion of it.
