A 12-year-old boy is in custody of the Harris County Juvenile Dand charged with aggravated assault for allegedly stabbing a 59-year-old woman Saturday afternoon.In surveillance video provided to ABC13 by a neighbor, two boys could be seen with their bikes talking to the victim at 2:07 p.m. at a house in the 17200 block of April Valley Court in northwest Harris County.
A neighbor from next door is then seen telling the boys to leave. But about 10 minutes later, the footage shows the boys returning on their bikes with gloves on their hands. The 12-year-old then takes something out of his pants, charges at the woman inside the garage, and then runs away with the 7-year-old boy
The 12 yr old kid had mental health issues according to the mom. So...kid has mental issues and the victim did as well. One obviously a little more than the other.
Another article stated the 7yr old did not stab the woman, he was just beside his brother. According to the link I just posted it said this about the 7 yr old..
"She says her 7-year-old's school is being very supportive and he is now attending school isolated from other children."

I feel so sorry for everyone involved. This is every family's nightmare if they have a mentally ill child.
Current treatments don't always help and there aren't enough facilities to help those who need long term or permanent housing to protect themselves and others.

The family of the stabber should be held financially responsible. All their assets should be seized to pay for the Life Flight and for the surgery. The future wages should be garnished if necessary.

What about the mental health professionals who treated this boy over the years who decided to release him from the facilities he was in?
We need more help for mentally ill children and families.
