You mentioned folding bikes. They can be handy if your car trunk is small. But not a good choice if you will be going on a lot of long (over 20 mile) rides.
Actually a lot of new beach cruiser, comforts and hybrids are aluminum, thus not that heavy. Im sure you.lift a 30lb bike. A fully dressed carbon or titanium roadbike is usually around 20 lbs fully dressed. Those bikes you want also may come with lightweight street tires and will have aluminum wheels. Look for a relaxed frame which most women bikes have anyway. Thos are the ones that have geometry similar to a bmx or 29er mtb where the frame slants bckward. Get fitted and have the seat adjusted. You may be hardpressed, but avoid ones with adjustible handlebars, we had one and they kept getting loose and wobbly, although tbey did hold position
