I have decided to step up and get a fatty for this winter. I have been a long time road, causal and mountain biker but thought I would try a fat bike. I ordered one from an on-line bike web site, they are now down to $600 for the cheaper ones and mine is not a single it is SRAM X7. With prices coming down fast I think you will start seeing a lot more of these.
Any thoughts on the best tires for snow riding? mine will come with 4.0 VEE 8 72TPI?
How about winter trails to ride on? anyone have problems with cross country ski areas banning bikes?
Do you need to put studs on the tires for winter?
I test rode one last winter, a real kick on a powder day.
Certainly don't need studs for powder and people say on ice they just deflate a little.
Recently read an article (don't remember where) that several Colorado cross country ski areas were going to open this year to fat bikes.
Have fun and don't forget summertime on the beach!
