I got an old Performance Bike Bike Box - around $200 back in 2007 or so? I guess it'd fit a road bike. But while I was in the Philippines I bought a nice Aleoca Folding Bike that I modded. I bought this because it can fit in a regular largest size airline suitcase! But I paid $200 extra for the suitcase - flew with 3 suitcases in all!
How about you? Have you ever used an airline bike box? How much did {what airline} charge you?
I dream about a Paris vacation where I bike around in my folding bike towing my suitcase.
The last time I used a hard shelled bike box was back in 1995 and it flew for free cause I told them it held outdoor gear. I cannot imagine how much it would cost to fly with one nowadays. It would probably be cheaper to ship your bike rather than fly with it.
Just once. I think it was $100 to check it. I decided not to do it again. But my father (RIP) used to do it all the time.
