I live in Cedar Hill. Great area, quite, and low crime. Tremendous growth in retail and housing market. And the best natural scenery in the metroplex.

On the downside, the schools system has too much in fighting to actually do anything of benefit. Most of the elementary schools are in excellent standing. The high school is academically acceptable like most schools in the DFW area. If that is a concern go private.

Lake Ridge has issues with forclosures so be mindful and financially set. Don't do like some and bite off more than you can chew. But it is not the only high end commumity. Check out Shenedoah and The Terrace the latest developement. Lake Ridge has the best views due to the location by Joe Pool Lake.

Cedar Hill's racial make up is not like your northern burbs. It has a a balance between white, blacks and some hispanics. Your population is educated with excellent incomes. Now you do have some knuckles but what burb doesn't.

My only advise is that you check it out for yourself. For that matter, check out all of the Dallas - Forth Worth area north, south, east and west.

I've noticed that a LOT of homes are for sale in this area. It's a little scary really.

I currently live in So. Cal and really want to get out. I've loved California and have lived here all my life, but it's just getting out of hand and not the California that I once knew. I have a home with two acres and a LOT of trees. There are almost 30 avocado trees alone. I also live in a small city called La Habra Heights that is in the hills. From what I've seen, Cedar Hill is the closest to what I know and love.

We don't have any kids, but I am a teacher so I don't know how the school situation would affect me. Maybe I could make a difference? haha...

Thank you for your recommendations on other areas to check out. I'll most likely be coming out your way this summer to see for myself.
