I have a couple of co workers who live there, and when I went to visit their homes, I felt that Rockwall is VERY safe, and very family friendly.

Nice area if you are looking for an east of Dallas suburb...I think the best thing about Rockwall is the scenic area.Check out the Shores community.they has some issues with the Golf course but everything seems to be back on track now.

My parents live there and LOVE it! Shopping and restaurants are plentiful, and it is an easy drive into Dallas. You really can't beat the outdoors and water sports on Lake Ray Hubbard.

I shop and eat there regularly with my family, and its very nice.

Heath, a very small and slightly more upscale city to the south, is a great choice too.

Very family oriented and safe, and one of Dallas' more unique suburbs since it surrounds Lake Ray Hubbard. Main outdoor activities would be anything you can do on/ in a lake- boating, fishing, swimming, skiing, tubing. You can take part in lake activities about 5-6 months of the year with our weather.

Good schools, good shopping (nothing really upscale like a Neiman's or Saks, but tons of good "mid-tier" shopping like Kohl's, JC Penney, Ross, etc.....and a huge Bass Pro shop right on the lake), the waterfront district ("The Harbor") is a nice entertainment development.
