East Dallas preferable
Hubby's birthday but will take 9yr old daughter, too.

Her recommendation was Magic Time Machine (yuck for Daddy's birthday!)
Would love York Street, but probably not okay for 9yr old.

Any suggestions?
Thanks!

MMM, love York Street but probably wasted on a 9 year old!! Local in Deep Ellum is another great "date night" pick....

What about....Matt's El Ranch in Lakewood Village, Fireside Pies on Henderson, Ozona on Greenville, Fuzzy's Tacos @ Mockingbird & Abrams is new, good, and family friendly (generous 'ritas for mom & dad, too!)

I'm going to be a broken record here today....rec on Victor Tango again. It has something for everyone and has great chef driven menu.
Your 9 yr old could get the chicken and waffles - it's more like batter fried chicken tenders while you and you husband have more sophisticated food. If you ask, they can even make a fresh juice "cocktail" for your kid.

Desserts are so-so at VT (they are good; just not a big selection). Depending on what you'd like. Maybe you could go next door to Hibiscus for the piece of the giant chocolate cake!

I'll put in a plug for a place in the Knox/Hendersen area - if you have dinner at Taverna (great risotto's, pizza, etc) and then walk to Wild About Harry's for frozen custard, there's a bit in there for everyone. Taverna is a great place to people watch also and it's a little loud, so your 9 year old doesn't have to be perfectly behaved.

We went to Benihana the other day and loved the food and atmosphere, that could be one idea.

Matt's is the most kid-friendly place for Lakewood - but Angelo's would also be good - there are a couple of little private rooms upstairs if you like. Scalini's Pizza is also a good spot. Haven't been to the Pommodoro or whatever but looks nice. If you are going tonight stop by the Lakewood Tavern and say howdy - a lot of 1970s Wildcats meeting there tonight!

On the more sophisticated side - another good place is St. Martin's on Greenville -- and the old standby, The Grape, although I don't see that many kids there...

If you want to go to Henderson - Victor Tango's, The Porch, Hisbiscus - all good. You might get a little extra attention at Hector's if you put a bug in his ear about the birthday -- Hector Garcia - I know him from SMU and his partner is former City Councilman Craig Holcomb, who used to live on Lakewood Blvd.

And -- it's always fun to go to Campisi's.

Went to The Grape not long ago and wasn't impressed.

Fireside Pies on Henderson might be fun.
