Hi,

Did anyone purchase 'motion activated home alarm system' for a single family home ?. Please let me know the more details (like cost of the device, subscription - like ADT etc)

Thanks,

Does your home already have a system ? If so it's pretty easy to have a motion detector added.

I would stay away from ADT, there are better local companies.

The better local companies as you may say... they charge about 20-30 / month for the monitoring and also abnout 200-500 upfront for installation costs and equipment costs, and then they monitor the alarm from their backyard or from a single monitoring station...

ADT has 7 Monitoring stations, 2 in canada and 5 in the US...
ADT only chargers anywhere from 35-44 / month with only 99 for the activation of the system so that it can be monitored. Have been in business for 137 years and is considered the top dog in the Home Alarm system company...

So why stay away from ADT?

+1 for ADT. Even cheaper when you use USAA discount as well. Have had them for 10+ years, and worked like a charm the one time it's been needed (and they were attentive the couple of times my wife botched the codes and set off the alarms)...

That being said, the one thing to watch out for when using the motion activated internal alarms are small kids or pets. We only use the internal motion sensors when we leave the house...

The new one (Premium Package for ADT) it actually programmable to pets and small boody heat... you can contact ADT if you are already a customer to see if they can upgrade you if you dont already have it.
