Sammy's has a fun atmosphere but I think it's only open for lunch.

Went to the original Sonny Bryan's on Inwood last week and got an order to-go. Sauce was fantastic but the meat was a little dry - got chopped beef sandwich so that may not be the best way to judge. Still was funky on the inside however, which garners many points in my book.

I would also suggest Baker's on Greenville Avenue and Peggy Sue BBQ in Snider Plaza.

Been wanting to try Mama Faye's in Deep Ellum.

Hard 8 BBQ in Coppell.... not your ordinary sit down restaurant that is for sure, but my NC and KCMO based relatives and my kids loved the process of going through the actual area where the meats are smoked (a covered are with all the smokers right there - hot and smokey of course) to order your tray of meat (kid you not), then enter the enclosed portion of the bldg to get your sides, etc... best I have ever had
