I just wandered into a micro lab at UT and begged and pleaded until they said yes. Worked there for two years. Refused class credit for it because I didn't want to make it seem like I was doing it for 'credit,' per se. Made lifelong friends and went to cool conferences.

It's not always the most glamorous or interesting work, but he did know his way around a lab well by the end and I think that helped him with the research programs offered by the med schools.
As long as he keeps a good GPA, sounds like he's on the right track.

My son is buying the Kaplan books, classroom time and sample tests. His roommate is buying the same from Princeton Review. They will compare notes etc. along the way.
