I just found out about this show/movie "30 K Millionaires" and it will be shot in Dallas. How prevalent is this "30 K millionaire" mentality in Dallas and in what particular areas? I try to avoid such ppl and personally do not find anything in common with such people. I am more of a pickup truck kind of guy, like to invest my money and very low key. I tried to explain to a group of 30K millionaires once that most rich people do not drive fancy cars, they just would not get it!

I've seen a lot of it in Far North Dallas and Uptown areas.

Most millionaries in Dallas DO drive fancy cars! Fort Worth is totally another story...;-)

If you think most millionaires drive fancy cars and live in huge houses (well, everyone lives in huge houses down here <grin>), read 'the millionaire next door'.

Most people in Uptown and Far North Dallas aren't making 30K. Those are expensive places to live.

Yes, that's a great book and makes so much sense as well.

What exactly is a 30K millionaire? Someone who eventually becomes a millionaire on a 30K a year salary or am I totally off? Sorry if I sound stupid but I've never heard of such a thing.

From urban dictionary:

A person who earns roughly 30 to 40k a year but acts like a millionaire in front of their peers. Someone who maxes-out their credit cards, leases everything and hangs out at trendy bars in order to impress and ultimately score with the opposite sex. It's not what you make... it's what you fake.
