I posted awhile ago asking about areas around Dallas that have at least .5 acre lots. I think we have settled on Forney as the best area for us. We are now wondering about neighborhoods in Forney. Although we're taking a trip to look at homes early next month, I'd like to get some feedback before then if possible.

Does anyone have feedback on:
Shamrock Ridge
Hunters Glen Estates

We have also seen some larger lots (though not .5 acre) in the following neighborhoods:
Grayhawk
Fox Hollow
Devonshire
Diamond Creek

Any advice on where to look or where to stay away from? Our budget is under $250k and elementary schools are a big factor for us. We are also interested in any feedback on builders in those neighborhoods. Thanks everyone!

Shamrock Ridge (off I20): large lots (acre+) out in the the middle of nowhere (really). Many homes have detached garages (w/ lofts) in addition to the normal attached garage. A few steel buildings for RVs/work shops. (Henderson ES)

Hunters Glen Estates (area off Windy Lane): large lots (acre+) closer to Forney High School, the Forney community park, shopping, etc. Ranch homes - some with work shed, a few HORSES (I saw 2 houses with a horse on the 1 acre lot) (Rhea ES)

Grayhawk: new 'higher end' homes (remember this is Forney) but very small lots - I'd guess closer to 10-12k sf - like Fox Hollow, but isolated. Community is off a main road. (Johnson ES)

Fox Hollow: across the street from the Forney Community Park - baseball/soccer fields, playground, walking trails. There are traills around the subdivision and you can walk to the park. Around the corner from the Forney HS. Smaller lots 10k sf+ (Rhea ES)

Diamond Creek: older homes (5-10yrs) on a big larger lots (12-15k maybe). A tornado went through this area this spring and damaged 15-20 homes (I don't believe any of the homes were actually destroyed.) Crosby ES school is in the neighborhood so you could walk to school. (Soccer team mom works there and likes the school.)

This is the website the Forney ISD uses for the bus routes/schools. Infofinder i (Forney ISD)

I don't know anything about builders
