I needed to check out an investment property near the old downtown in Denton yesterday and found out it was a short walk from the downtown Denton rail station, so I thought why not try it out instead of driving. I took DART light rail north from downtown Dallas to Carrollton, was pleasantly surprised to find the brand new German-made Stadler rail cars were in service, rather than the old Budd diesel-powered rail cars they borrowed from the TRE commuter line between Dallas and Fort Worth.

Yeah ... I was "that guy" who took photos the whole trip. I ride the TRE to work into Dallas every weekday, so I expected the usual layers of grime and wear. Everything was brand new and clean.

Platform at the final stop in Denton.

Old downtown ended up being a four block walk west of the station. UNT a short bus ride away, bus stops adjacent to the train platform. The transit authorities offices were next door, too. With a nice waiting area, restroom and vending machines.

All in all, a good experience. A nice get-away for the family on the weekend. The ride from downtown Dallas to Carrollton was about 40 minutes, 10 minute layover and train switch, then another half hour on the A-Train into downtown Denton.

Great pics. It'll take a while to get development around those stations, and riders. And babba booie to you all.

The "Day Tripper" program did Denton this Fall. Downtown looked adorable around the town square. They found good food and lots of live music at night.
