I have a couple of lotions as well as some detergents that have been used and I want to donate them. Now the items I have are not expired and some of them are partially used and I hate to throw them away and waste them. I was hoping that there are some shelters that will take them so they can be put to good use. Does anyone here know of any places that would take items like this. I mostly have lotions, shampoos. cleaning products, and laundry detergents.

I doubt anyone will take opened toiletries. Use up your lotions by using them as shaving cream in the shower.

Honestly, that's incredibly degrading to people in shelters. You are essentially just giving them your trash to use. Just because they are poor or fleeing for safety doesn't mean they deserve junk.

This. I wouldn't even donate stuff from the dollar store because various investigations have found several products to be unsafe or adulterated with questionable ingredients. When I have donated toiletries before, they are always brand-new, unused, and are major recognizeable labels. Just because someone's down and out doesn't mean they don't deserve quality, safe hygiene products.

I don't know about Plano, but I would call Austin Street Center and ask them. If they won't take it, my guess is that no one will.
