I am wondering if anyone knows how difficult it is to get a membership to the Petroleum Club in Dallas. Do you know what type of membership fees and dues there are?

You have to get an invitation by 2 members to get in and references by 3 members. I attended a wedding there, it's beautiful but I have no clue as to what the membership dues are.

My FIL is a member of the Houston one...I will ask him if it's similar or how it goes.

Yeah...I wouldn't join for the same reason I decided not to join the local country club. Don't want to spend my off time all dressed up. *snooze*

Thanks for the responses. I guess I am wondering if it is more the sort of place where getting the two/three references isn't difficult (and where the club might actually refer you to people if you don't know anyone) or if it is the kind where it's much more difficult to actually get it (like Dallas Country Club). If it's more like the former, I'll give them a call.

Membership is by invitation only.
Quote:
Membership is by invitation only.

Candidates must be sponsored by two resident members and have
three resident members listed as references.

Application must be requested for the candidate by one of the
sponsors.

Sponsor or candidate must return the completed application to the
Membership department.
I suspect in order to get a reference that you're going to need a social as well as working relationship with your sponsor. And if someone were sniffing my butt for that sponsorship... well, it just ain't gonna happen. Sorta what makes it exclusive. Not many beggars get in. I'm sure many more have tried than have succeeded.

I don't know, our local Petroleum Club got real desperate for members when oil dropped down to around 10.00 a barrel. I'm not really the club type, well I created an online gaming club back in the day lol Anyhow, my in laws are members of every club in town. I enjoy the food but that is about it.

You need to know people. They don't "match-make" sponsorships. If you work in oil/energy in Dallas, it shouldn't be too hard to find existing members you know. I think it's an older set of members- more men/couples aged 45-65. Not sure if that's you or not.
