I have been fortunate enough to land a terrific job opportunity at Baylor Univ Med Center near downtown Dallas. My family and I will be moving out that way in mid-June, and are trying to find safe, cheap places to live - max budget probably around $1000/month. We'd hoped for a 3 bedroom rental, but know we may well have to settle for 2. My hours can be long, so we're trying to minimize any commute. Likewise, I'm a young female that sometimes comes home/leaves for work in the middle of the night and we need an area where I would be safe going to/from the car. We have 2 children under 3, but will move before they start school, so that is not a consideration. We have visited a few times and are vaguely familiar with the area, but will not be able to come out to search for rentals in advance of our move. As such, internet/phone resources are greatly appreciated.

It looks like Campagna and JoGip property management might work. I've seen a few places up near the 635/75 intersection by Richardson, but am concerned this may be too far away commute-wise. How is the Forest Hills/Claremont area? We found some interesting complexes there, too, but are concerned about safety. I would greatly appreciate any advice.

Forest Hills, Little Forest Hills, Casa Linda, Casa Linda Forest would be good. But not the Claremont area. Tell us the street names of the complexes; chances are they might be sketchy. I live in this area. The only complexes that would be good are located on Garland Rd between the Arboretum and Buckner Blvd.
Have you looked at The Village? There are many styles of apartments - surely there is a 3br; I'm unfamiliar with the pricing though.
