Well, what to you think about the movement in Lakewood to form an ISD and break away from DISD?

Hmmmmm, it'd be interesting for sure. I assume this would be some sort of township as well with their own Fire/Police/Governing body?

Not just Lakewood, but East Dallas.

I think currently it's just an idea and a facebook group. There is a lot to do from what I read to get some actual traction.

Would this include Far East Dallas, the area that's zoned to Bryan Adams?

The home values would double, but I can't see how legally this ever works out. I would guess that 80% of all the residents in that area would be in favor of it, but DISD would kick and scream. Also, I presume that DISD owns the buildings, fields, etc. Who would reimburse DISD for the hundreds of millions in assets? Moreover, the mayor would never agree to this plan because of the damage it would do to him in South Dallas.
