We are relocation from Boston to Dallas and we really liked a house in the Woodbridge subvision. Is that a good neighborhood for a family with small children? We are looking to purchase and we want to make sure the neighborhood is safe.

I'm not familiar with a neighborhood in North Dallas (that's the area south of 635 and north of the Park Cities) by that name. Can you give us a zip code or major cross streets?

The property is located on Wood Forest Dr Dallas, TX 75243. It'a dead end street, the only cross st I can see in the map is Woodbridge Dr and Forest Lane.

Thank you!

I personally would not target that area for a home. There are some less than desirable environments around Audelia/Skillman/etc in my opinion and crime is too high for my taste. What type of criteria is important to you?

Oh, heck no!! That is a high crime, just plain bad part of town. Definitely not for a family!! In north Dallas, you want to avoid the folllowing neighborhoods:

1. The area you found. Which is bordered by Greenville Ave/ Plano Road/ 635 / Buckingham.

2. The area bound by Greenville Ave/ Northwest Hwy/ Skillman / Walnut Hill.

3. The area bound by I-35 / Northwest Hwy / Webb Chapel/ Walnut Hill.

What are you looking for in a home - size & budget? Where are your jobs? We'd love to point you in the right direction!

Completely agree with TurleCreek. Best to avoid that area - definitely not suitable for a family or small children. North Dallas has some great, desirable neighborhoods...just not this one. Sorry!

That house on Wood Forest Drive is one of a kind with indoor pool, huge wooded backyard facing a lovely creek. Unfortunately, not a good area. This house was foreclosed few years ago at $199,000 but probably renovated by new owner.

You would be in Lake Highlands, but not the nice part of lake highlands. The house is a little too good to be true. I would pay close attention to your neighbors. Good luck.

Look around on Google Maps. The majority of the dwellings in that area are apartments, and to make matters worse, they are low rent apartments. Check out the Dallas Police Dept crime maps, too.
