We're looking to build in Mansfield.
How is the traffic/ease of commute to Downtown Dallas?

Um...it's so far from downtown Dallas that I wouldn't even consider it. Mansfield is south of Fort Worth. Why Mansfield?

Yes Mansfield is south of Arlington & way southeast of Fort Worth.
I just spoke (a few minutes ago) to a client that moved from Plano to Mansfield and she commutes to downtown Dallas daily. She said that it takes her about 35-45 minutes in rush hour. She is not one that goes over the speed limit at all either.

I have co-workers downtown that commute from Mansfield. It's 45-60 minutes they say, with 60 minutes being a bad day with weather or wrecks. Not too bad. Traffic coming from the southern half of DFW is much better than traffic coming from the northern half. You can travel a lot more miles in the same amount of time coming from the south.
There are a bus-load of foreclosures in Mansfield. Lots.
Did you see this thread about Mansfield?

I was wondering how long it would take the word foreclosure to appear, when speaking of Mansfield or any area south of the Trinity. Don't let that detour your plan. Foreclosures are a problem all over the DFW area even the northern suburbs.
Mansfield is a nice area with good schools, low crime and rapid growth. So the downside is traffic. The commute up 360 to I-20 or I-30 will be cumbersome, but not horrific.

Well... Not sure where all the foreclosures have gone too but as of today, here is how many are in the MLS (Multiple Listing Service) offered for sale by banks. These are not short sales. These have been foreclosed on: I am not counting those that already have a contract either.
Mansfield 37
Plano 68
Frisco 82
Dallas 600
Arlington 165
Richardson 25
Garland 142
Lots more out there but Mansfield seems to be selling them.

Was wondering the same dallas76. People are telling everyone to move north of 635 and then they complain about how much traffic there is up there. I can't imagine that in Dallas the only livable space is north of 635 and anything else is just a dump. I've got friends and coworkers in Mansfield and none regret living there. In fact a couple have mentioned their desire to get away from the "Joneses" factor as the reason for not wanting to live up north.
