Completely irrelevant. Most people fighting for gay rights are not gay themselves. Look at the poll below. 55% of all Americans support gay marriage and 80% of young adults support gay marriage:

Same-Sex Marriage Support Reaches New High at 55%

The tidal wave Im refering to is the overturning of the unconstitutional state gay marriage bans. 35 states allow gay marriage now vs. 17 a year ago. THATS the tidal waive Im refering to.

Good for Plano. It's so disappointing to hear people like Metro Matt. Gay people may be an abstract inferior enemy to people like him but in reality LGBT are real people and deserving of being treated fair.

It's very concerning that this topic that affects real lives is treated as some kind of political and religious strategy game.

This thread hasn't been locked yet?

Anyway, this is REALLY all about the Benjamins. The city government wants to land a few more fish like Toyota.

We can sit around and argue exact percentages all day. But when you are dealing with large firms, you can be quite certain that there will be SOME employees who are gay/lesbian. Keep in mind, that includes some of those with the power to make a "stay or go" decision to relocate to Plano.

By getting this on the books, Plano is going to look more appealing and less threatening. In other words, diffusing the "Texas = pickups and shotguns" stereotype in others' minds.

By and large, window dressing, considering all the Mack Truck-sized loopholes included. But an important symbolic step that should pay off for the city.

Thumbs up from me, FWIW.
