Random observations -

TAG is superb, but all the normal caveats that you're pulling ~50 students per grade (most of whom are the best in the district) out of ALL of DISD, so you'd expect their numbers to be really good.

HP remains (no surprise) the top scorer of all open enrollment publics by a sizable margin, and even beats out SEM.

Carroll and Westlake are about even, with a slight edge to Carroll, so someone living in the part of Westlake that also feeds into CISD should choose based on preference for type of school (small vs. large, IB vs. not, athletics, etc.) rather than an expectation that either school is "better" academically. I get that making that decision is a "such problems one should have" thing.

Carroll now has a slight edge over the Planos and Coppell, thanks mainly to english and writing scores. I'll also note that Carroll had an edge in 2014-15 in ACT scores as well. However, these numbers normally bounce around year to year. All those schools are in the same ballpark.

FMHS has really closed the gap between it and that group and is almost up to them.

Liberty in Frisco is on a serious upward trajectory and between this and their NMSF numbers, may join the "usual suspects" discussion in a few years.

Keller HS had a good year, topping the GCISD schools.

Grapevine HS had an off year.

Marcus continues to perform well and be oft-forgotten in discussions here.

Pottsboro? Where the heck is that? (quick check) Almost at the TX-OK border? Blogspot really considers that a DFW area school? REALLY?!?! Well, props to them anyway.

Hebron is changing Lewsiville from a "big 2" district to a "big 3" district.

If you're looking for affordability, good location, and pretty good schools, you could do a lot worse than the Carrollton-Farmer's Branch district.

I never feel surprised by privates scoring well on SAT/ACT with handpicked enrollment they do and prep resources their students can afford.

On the other hand, I'm always surprised by Plano East, they don't have advantages like other affluent public or private schools but they always pull it off.

HP, SL, WL, Coppell, Plano West and Plano Senior are consistent and affluent top performers so great job but no surprises there.

Magnet schools have unfair advantage of limiting enrollment to top students from DISD and other districts so awesome but not surprising.

Plano East has the same resources (district wise as Plano and Plano West. 2nd its the only IB school in the district, thus it receives transfers from around the area. 3rd, Plano east is not some hood or terrible place. They are still well above the "norm" as far as socio-economics goes in Texas (less than 30% of the students receive reduced lunch prices, less than say JJ Pearce).
