Currently live in McKinney, and am looking for a smaller city,
as McKinney has just boomed so large, and continues to grow.
I miss 'small city' life.

Work from home, so commute is not an issue.
Do have a child in middle school, so 'decent' schools are a plus,
though don't need to be 'exemplary', as they are here.

Would be nice to still be in an area that has all the basic 'necessities'
nearby.
Grocery stores, Walmart, CVS, etc.

Been looking online around Burleson. Any opinions on Burleson?

Thanks much.

It's a nice town with good schools. I have a lot of coworkers who live there.

My impressions from being in the area on business a few years back. Not as big as McKinney but not as well planned so felt a bit disjointed. Roads are nowhere near or large as this area so traffic felt just as congested. It is closer to Fort Worth than McKinney is to Dallas, so it will probably continue to grow. Sounds more like a lateral move than an outright change of pace. If I were in your shoes, would go for a slower pace but still larger town like Greenville or Sherman or Waxahachie that is close to the metroplex but not really suburban at this point. In fact if you want to be on that side of the metroplex, you ought to at least look a little further out at Cleburne, the county seat.

Ive always liked Rockwall. It seems quite large though.

How would you compare the size of Rockwall to Burleson?

Both Rockwall and Burleson have the exact same population. Rockwall is much more charming! Also Rockwall is closer to your present location which makes moving so much easier as far as children connecting with friends and any doctor or dentists you presently use -- you can transition over more easily. I think the schools are better in Rockwall and the proximity to the lake is great.
