We are planning of a move to Dallas this summer...my husband's workplace will be Irving...appreciate your suggestions for a good suburb to make it our home with good public schools and master planned communities, with decent commute. We have an elementary school aged child.... thanks in advance.

This, plus PLEASE provide more detailed info to get good responses. We need to know:
1. Your budget- rent or buy
2. What size/type home you expect for that, lot size
3. Your desired commute time in minutes

We are thinking of renting for a year and then buying.. a 3BD/2 1/2ba home around 2500+ sqft budget will be 250K-350k..with 20 to 30 minutes commute.

Look in North Euless, zip code 76039. That's very close and will fit your housing needs

Flower Mound, Grapevine, and maybe Coppell.

I'd head straight to Coppell under those circumstances, actually. The houses in the size you're looking for may hurt your budget a bit, but you can get very nice ones that are a bit smaller than that for well under 250 if you've some flexibility, and for a number of places in Irving that sets you up with a reverse commute.

If your husband will work on/near the 183 corridor, this is a pretty good idea. If his workplace is more towards far north Las Colinas, avoid, because he'll have to fight enough cross-town traffic to double his commute time just inside Irving.

I'm not sure I agree with the idea you will find anything nice for $250k in those areas. My wife and I were looking with the OP's exact budget and wants, nothing we went into was overly nice. $350k seems the bottom tier of acceptable for good houses in Coppell and Flower Mound.

If your bottom tier of acceptable starts at $350, you're far too wealthy to bother with middle class places like we're talking about.
