We moving to Dallas from Minneapolis and want to rent for a while till we get the lay of the land. In the meantime we'd like to rent a house seems though we are selling our house and are use to the space. Where is the best places to search for rental houses? Property management companies? Craigslist? Newspaper?

My husband is transferring to an office in Plano. We are looking in the northeast to north areas like Mesquite, Rowlett, Garland, Addison, North/NW Dallas, Plano and Farmer's Branch.

Looking to spend $1350 or less for around 1300 sf. Is my price range reasonable?

Or would our money go further in an apartment with a pool??!!

Are any of these areas low income/crime ridden?

How many bedrooms? Do schools matter?

Cross off Mesquite, Rowlett, and Garland. Those would be bad commutes. Addison and Farmer's Branch are probably doable and so is North/NW Dallas for a commute, but not if you are looking for great schools. Maybe add Carrollton too.
