I've always lived in homes with concrete foundations until I moved to Terrell last fall when we purchased a 50 year old pier and beam house. My in-laws live here in town and they've never lived in a pier and beam home and are constantly hammering me on watering my foundation.

I've always thought that you shouldn't water around the foundation of a pier and beam because if moisture gets under the house it will loosen the concrete piers. Can anyone tell me if regular watering of a pier and beam house is bad or is it just as good as watering a concrete foundation?

Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated...Thanks!

Every yard, landscape and foundation should have a good watering program.

Not over or under watered and it's very important to have proper drainage.

It depends on how deep the piers are. If they sit on stable soil or rock then you don't have to control moisture.
