so many people are basing decisions on summer commute times. Traffic is much, much worse once school starts next week!

Yup.

Whether the OP can tolerate the commute is really up to him. I know I wouldn't be able to do it. Some people can zen out, even in heavy traffic. I can't.

Word to the wise: NEVER trust what anyone in HR says. Hell, my dad is in HR and even he would vouch for this!

Sure they say oh you can only come into the office 2X a week. But soon, things will change and "market conditions will adjust" and soon you will be required to be in the office 3,4, maybe even 5 times a week, making that hellacious commute while whittling time off your life. And protesting against that will suddenly make you an enemy and not a team player, blah blah blah. Just not worth it IMO.

I would only take this job if you were okay with possibly having to do this drive every day should conditions change, because you may very well have to. If it was my dream job, I would take it now and make plans in the long run to relocate closer to Euless.

This is the only reason I do it 5 days a week (Forney to North Carrollton)... it is my dream job (at least for now).

We have thought about relocating... but the idea of trying to find an equivalent house in that area while selling our current house does not appeal to us. Too hard to be a buyer right now. Will see where things go in the next few years (with this job and with the housing market).

I have a friend who drives 70 mins from McKinney to Dallas. He doesn't really mind because he likes his job and he likes where he lives.
