Have any details been released of Randall Reed's plans for this property, now that the city council has approved his proposal? I know it includes a car dealership (duh), as well as retail and restaurants, but do we know if the major part of the iconic mid-century structure will be saved? Will restaurants/bars have open views of the airport? Inquiring minds want to know!

Personally, I think the most appropriate use of the site would have been for the Frontiers of Flight museum to be moved/expanded into the old maintenance hangars, but I'm sure there's not nearly enough money for that.

I believe the DMN had an article about it a day or so ago. Check their website.

Along those lines is anyone else getting fed up Scott Griggs?

1. This is the guy who more or less directed a screaming at a long time city employee over nothing - paper-clips of photocopies or similar.
2. It just torques me when pols. play the game that Griggs is playing vis a vis The Braniff building. That thing has been literally falling apart for years. Reed, a private sector guy who has been a really good neighbor to everyone in Dallas for years comes up with a plan to not only save the building but to turn it into a tax making business home that will benefit all of the city..........and suddenly Griggs and a couple of other blow-hards on the city council want to explore other options. What options is Griggs talking about? And why hasn't he been working those leads since his CC election in '11? What a jerk.

We actually live in the community, and there has been some kick back. It seems to be more of the older generations that have lived in the up and coming area for awhile. I really like Adam Medrano, my local rep, as he's gone above and beyond to personally help my wife and me on issues in the past. But as I said before, the backlash stems from the older people in the area. They also don't like to see the older homes being renovated and their property values increasing.

I think your analysis is largely correct. If Griggs and the others are running interference for older folks who want static home values and a fixed city............

1. He/they need to be honest about their motives.
2. They are going to lose. Large American cites grow, rejuvenate and or gentrify or they begin to die.
