Hi, I am moving from India to Texas for work. My work location is Irving and is near to Irving Convention Center. I would like to seek advice for selecting an area to look for renting a house. I am married and have a 3 year old son. I believe Elementary schools have PK starting for 4 year old. So what will be the options for my son. My wife would start to work after some time and work location might be Arlington.

Hello,

Irving will offer lots of rental options( managed apartment communities) and will be your best bet. Rental houses ( detached single family homes) are a different ballgame and you will need a Real Estate Agent to navigate that succesfully. I would recommend getting an apartment locator to help you in your search as well as Irving has a dizzying array of apartment rental options in all price ranges and in very different areas.

If i was you i would look in the Las Colinas area in irving.

I cant answer the Pre-K question fully as I dont know what the non-private options would be in that arena. Chances are that you will need to pay for private Pre-K and won't join elementary school until Kindergarten, but others will probably clarify that.

Irving, particularly Valley Ranch if you want to be part of a very dense Indian Community. Look for rentals zoned to Coppell ISD if schools are important to you.

However, in general public schools here do not offer pre-k. Your child would start in public schools at 5 years old for Kindergarten and would need to be 5 by Sept 1. Most people do private Pre-K for a year or two. There are a ton of options in the area, but you will have to pay.

Thank you 'BLDSoon' , 'mSooner'.
I am checking in apartments finder for Las Colinas and Valley Ranch. Seems a lot of good options. I will find a good one and check for concerns. I am not able to find any details about private Pre-K for my son. Is there any place I could find these information. Anybody helping with that would be great.

Check out Primrose School in Valley Ranch. Also the City of Irving Parks and Recreation Dept. offers preschool classes but not full day.

Thank you. Primrose looks nice. Is the one in Valley Ranch preferred to the one in Las Colinas? Or both are fine. Also do you have any idea about the fee structure.

I don't know pricing. But Primrose, Childrens Courtyard, Bright Horizons and Miss Bloomington's Academy are the top places in Las Colinas and Valley Ranch.

Are you looking for a daycare-like schedule for preschool or 9am-2pm 2-3 day a week options?

Expect to pay $900-$1400/month for 8-6 everyday care--the Montessori schools are on the higher end. I priced out 2 day a week 9-2pm options for my daughter and most were $225-$350/a month.

The time options are good. The price is almost of a rent for a 1 Bed Room Apartment . Will start with 9-2 until my wife gets work so that my son also gets the settled. After that will go for 8-6 Mon-Fri

Yep. Hence why our daughter is only doing 1 year of preschool!
