First time home buyer here and looking for some inputs with regards to homeowners insurance. I am currently in the process of getting home insurance quotes.

How much dwelling cost one should go for? is there any specific guideline. I am getting various numbers from different quotes. As per county records last appraised value of the house is 420K with land component being 105K. I was thinking of sticking to that as guideline and opt for 335K but most of the insurance agents recommend me higher replacement cost upwards of 380K+

Also if home insurance has additional replacement coverage say 50%, do you adjust the dwelling cost lower considering that?

Do mortgage lenders demand specific dwelling cost? I know this may change from lender to lender but just wanted to hear your experience.

Read the policy. Just because you state a higher value and pay a higher premium doesn't necessarily mean the company will pay out up to that value.
