So it's a completely separate issue from DISD librarians.

As I understand it, DCS provides bus service for multiple school districts in DFW and KXAS has been slamming them against the wall for, what, a couple of years now? It seems like every other day, they're running a new piece on DCS's problems.

There's zero direct relationship between Dallas County Schools (whomever allowed them to use that name needs to be kicked in the butt) and DISD's librarian issue. Even after the proffered librarian reduction DISD will still have more librarians than any district in the state and by far. DISD will have 199 after the cuts, HISD has 66.

Let's face it technology has imperiled the library sciences.

I didn't think there was a relationship.

I read the article UnfairPark posted; I don't see how losing a few librarians will send DISD down the tubes.

Amen

This is sad but true.

With charter schools draining money away, public schools may need to cut down libraries all together.

Having dilemmas doesn't mean doomed.

I don't see that losing a few librarians is even a dilemma considering all that the DISD has to deal with. As for DCS...they're over the same barrel as several other school districts on that one.

The schools should cut back on UIL sports before they cut library services.
