Someone has to be a real pioneer to find housing in Bishop Arts, nevermind services. North of I-30 you begin to, but then it's north of the freeway and still expensive. If the rents don't stop the search, then you've solved the commute to the Dallas VA.

What about slowdowns and closed lanes on the way to FW half of the week? Even North Arlington is practically at the same latitude as Oak Cliff.

"Large concentration of young professionals"...in Bishop Arts? Huh? Not renting.
Irving is nowhere near the Dallas or FW VA's. Both are closer to I-20.

Bishop Arts is about 10 square blocks so obvi we're referring to a larger area than that for his search. Yes, North Oak Cliff has a large young professionals population. And 100's of young professional apartments have opened or are currently under construction Sylvan 30, Bishop Station, and other projects. And Central Market is building a store in NOC. And there are 2 more moving into downtown which is 5 min away. And the Whole Foods in Uptown is easy to get to. And there's the basic Tom Thumb, Wal-Mart etc stores in NOC, too. People in NOC don't starve, trust me.

Even easier to get to if it wasn't in the other side of the city in Oak Lawn.

Median is all size apartment units. I have no doubt a decent one bedroom in a decent neighborhood wont be $750 in Dallas FW or the midcities but I think it can be had for $900 to $1,000

On comment #10, median is limited to the subject of 1-br units across the 12 county region. Not steamships, or duplexes.

Really nice places with conscientious friendly neighbors and nice pools with stone decks can be seen all over the area for 750, including the I-30 and I-20 corridors.

Oh awesome, they finished the Zang Blvd. streetcar. Where's the Central Market?

Are we calling north of I-30 Bishop Arts District now?

It's coming eventually, supposedly. Not sure on timing. Location will be right near the streetcar.

I think a lot of people use the terms "Bishop Arts District" and "North Oak Cliff" interchangeably, since Bishop Arts is the commercial anchor for North Oak Cliff. North Oak Cliff (as I understand it to be understood) is zip code 75208 which would include a small area north of I-30 and Kessler area.

E.g., a property wanting to market a location almost 1.5 miles north of Davis and on the other side of I-30.

Sure, why not.

Aside from that, there are at least 4 or 5 (or more) different apartment/mixed use projects going on right now in the actual Bishop Arts District that will be finished within the next year. Which is probably a big reason why the Central Market is going there.

A Sylvan 30 that is almost 1.5 miles north of Davis and on the other side of I-30, um--that one must first pass completely through a neighborhood called Kessler Park to get to. Are we calling Kessler Park Bishop Arts District too?
