I would like to install some faux wood beams in my ceiling, but I just couldn't figure out who and what kind of company will do such job. Are there any recommendation? Thanks

I dont have any idea about this, but a quick google search shows that Home Depot sells them. You can ask them if they can install it for you.

I usually will avoid HD or Lowes unless I'm running out of option. Don't have much good experience in those big chain stores before, anyway thanks!

I found one company in denton but they only sell the beams .... So the search is still going on.
Same here, I'm building a new home and the builder charge me $5000. If only it's half of it I will totally do that.

Let me ask my mom and I'll get back to you. She is also building a house and using faux wood beams (made out of a styrofoam like material) that are light and easy to install. The samples she had looked awesome

Building here as well - got sticker shock when told beams would be $4-5,000 per room (We have them in three rooms in our current home). And the beams that were quoted weren't exactly elaborate beam design, just two strips following a cathedral ceiling (not dropped beams - which would have looked awesome with the cathedral).

I think they've found a fad and are capitalizing on it. I've researched the work required and it's relatively simple. The ceiling needs to be blocked and/or nailing strips installed to support the weight of the beams. The hollow beams (three sides of trim quality wood) need to constructed & stained. And then they need to be installed. I assume this would be an easy job for a quality trim carpenter. I don't see how the materials & time would be more than $1,000-$1,500 for a relatively simple design.

Are the beams flush with the ceiling or are they drop beams with an elaborate design like: http://cdn.homedit.com/wp-content/up...oom-design.jpg

I'd find a design you like, determine the sizes and call a few trim carpenters to give you a quote. For basic beams, $5k sounds like a lot in my opinion.
