He can talk all he wants, but new home prices aren't relevant to a discussion of the strength of the DFW housing market.

Lots of speculation the Fed will be lowering rates in July. I wonder if this will have an effect on home prices entering late summer and early fall.

Most of us have given up on this thread due to a few posters that keep banging the same drum for years.

If you plan on being here for 5 years or more, buy. People are still flocking to this area and construction is still booming. Demand is still strong. If you buy a used home, I can almost guarantee you won't lose money, negotiate with your realtor to give them 1% for showing you homes, that will also help the seller and could negotiate a bit lower price probably.

If you buy a new home, in 5 years you will still probably have made some money from appreciation.

Luckily that noise has been taken to its proper thread instead of ruining this one.

We're on a lease through Q1 next year, and will start looking at housing/areas this Fall. I'm still working from home but looking for a DFW-based position, so don't think we'll settle on a desired location before we know the job location. But I'm excited to start looking! Market softening or not, we're buying for the long-term, so it doesn't really matter.
